What Makes Us Special

About Washington College

Located in a Colonial river town near Maryland's Chesapeake Bay and Washington, DC, we were chartered in 1782 under George Washington’s patronage as the first college of the new nation. Our mission remains "to educate citizens for the vital task of democracy." We offer strong enrichment programs in environmental studies, history and literature and new state-of the-art facilities for the arts, student life and fitness. Our psychology program is known for student research opportunities.
